The number of children and the longest offered care period are taken from the city's Kita directory as of March 1, 2026. "Care until" refers to the longest voucher service, not the opening hours of the facility. We have taken the address of Kita Baumpieper from the provider's website; the directory lists Baumpieperweg 1. The profile keywords summarize the information provided by the Kitas on their own websites.

Why so many new Kitas have been built in Neugraben-Fischbek

Neugraben-Fischbek is a district with many children. Of 35,512 residents, 22.0% are under 18 years old, compared to the Hamburg average of 16.5% (Statistikamt Nord, as of December 31, 2025).

Many Kitas have been built with the new development areas in recent years. According to IBA Hamburg, there are five Kitas in Vogelkamp Neugraben with around 1,950 apartments. In Fischbeker Heidbrook, the former barracks area with around 1,250 apartments, three Kitas with a total of about 250 to 300 places were built.

The next quarter is already under construction. Development began in Fischbeker Reethen in autumn 2026, with around 2,300 apartments planned for approximately 5,750 people. IBA plans five more Kitas there with 50 to 160 places. When they will open and who will operate them has not yet been published.

For the youngest children, the district is slightly below the Hamburg average. On March 1, 2026, 45.7% of children under three years of age in Neugraben-Fischbek were cared for in a Kita or family daycare, compared to 47.0% city-wide. For children aged three years up to school enrollment, the rate is 94.8%, slightly above the Hamburg value of 93.4% (Hamburg City Care Ratios).

How to find the right Kita in Neugraben-Fischbek

These questions will help you narrow down your choices:

1. How long do you need care? All Kitas except the Waldorf kindergarten offer eight hours. If you need ten or twelve hours, check the table for the longest care period and ask about the facility's opening hours.

2. Large or family-like? Small facilities like the Waldorf kindergarten or Baumhuus are manageable. Large facilities like Am Johannisland or Himmelblau offer integration services, and Storchenwiese has its own language support specialist.

3. Which profile is important to you? Wunderland (English) and Sonnenschein (Russian) are bilingual. Movement is a focus at Springmäuse and Kita Neuwiedenthaler Straße, while nature is emphasized at Baumpieper, Glückskinder, Wümmeweg, and An der Falkenbek.

4. What does your daily commute look like? A Kita on your way to the S-Bahn or work saves you time every day.
